Our 50s theme........?!

Most of our friends should have received our wedding invitations by now! Pls let us know if the postman took off with yours!

[click on the photo to enlarge the wedding card]

Was juz chattin' with Randy abt how we're going to tahan through 2 major parties in 1 day (church wedding for our friends + dinner banquet for our relatives), and the truth is we have no answers... Hahahaha... But we've seen so many of our other friends done it before, so we have faith (and historical experience) that we would pull through.... YEA YEA...

We would have really loved to invite everyone to our wedding dinner but due to the overwhelming response from our relatives, we couldn't find enuff gaps in the hotel to squeeze more tables in... So sorry, friends-who-din-get-dinner-invites, we still love u ok.................... ;)

Many friends dropped us an sms to say that they're got our card in their mail...! But @ the same time, we got alot of people asking us what's 50s old jazz............... So I shall do a post abt the theme rightaway...
Church wedding theme: 50s old jazz
Can-can skirts... Hats... Gloves.... Belts (worn high-waisted).... Pearls......
For the men: Dated glasses with thick frame, hats, suspenders, bow ties...
Legendary 50s icon like Good Ol' Frank Sinatra & Dean Martin....
and of coz.... Audrey Hepburn...
If you racked your brains and still can't anything in the theme, u might wanna wear MONOTONES (black, white, grey) since the 50s are about black & white movies....... ;)
(Disclaimer: the photos above are just for illustration purposes to answer some of your question marks... You don't neccessarily have to dress the part or go over the top if you really can't find anything in yours/your parents wardrobe......)

Dinner banquet: Old Oriental
Cheong sums... Shawls (for men too, haha)... Fur coats.... Chinese fans....
I was hunting for cheongsums with some of my friends and found them quite hard to find...
Dressing in Gold, Red (and all other auspicious colours) are oriental too!
Anyhows, it's just for the fun of things that we state a theme... So pls still come if you can't find anything to wear that fits the theme!!!!!! We juz wan all our guests to come and enjoy themselves!!!

Wedding invites for relatives

Finally, I have cleared 2 days in distributing wedding invites to close relatives. It was really an exhausted & also eventful experience which increase a notch in the level of bond between me and my parents. On day 1, we started at 12pm and ended at a good 7pm moving from house to house. Even though my mum is still experiencing discomfort with her worn out knees, never once did she complaint. And my Dad was even more excited than me throughout the process, where he masterminded how we should go about the distribution. Kara was not allowed to come along because my relatives can only see her on the actual day... really funny chinese tradition.

So my Dad took on the leadership cap and it went really well. This distribution also gave me an opportunity to mingle and meet up with many relatives. Haha... and this also marks the day where I realize my Chan family ties is really wide & extensive, covering more than 20 homes in 7 hrs.

So thank you "Pa & Ma" for being such a great help & blessing... :)

And the other memorable thing was when we were at my nanny's place to pass her the invite. It brought back loads of precious & lovely memories where I was a kid. And I often address her as "Ma ma" instead of "Lao Khin". I stayed with her when I was just a few months old till about 3. Even though I can't remember much, there is always this deep sense of connection when I am back at the unit.

So here are some pictures of the place where I grew up with other friends...

Caterers

I found this half-written blogpost that i was writing 2 months ago and forgot to post.. Hahaha... Anyways here's some photos we took at Asian civilisation museum... We were invited by Rasel Catering to attend their function there (as well as to taste their food!).......

Randy at the lift door... (the door handles r not real..... it's a giant sticker..)

In due credit, Rasel's food was okay and everything but we weren't ready to make any commitment then....

Then it was pouring buckets and we hung out at the 1st floor and entertained ourselves...

Anyways i've juz issued out a cheque today for another caterer.. Who's more familiar with setting up in our church....
We've started our first batch of cards-distribution last Sat!!! Kudos to Randy for spotting people and giving them out fast.... DHL has certainly taught him a courrier trick or two.... ;)
A few people has been asking me abt my wedding theme... Gonna do a post on wedding themes really soon kay?!!! Keep a lookout for my next post!!!!! :)

Card Matters.......

We're (finally) working on the wedding cards!!! Okay, the entire stack of cards have been sitting in the living room for a while but I've officially lifted my marker and started calligraphy-ing on em'...

Folding cards, cutting gold strings & tying them... It's all so factory-outlet... You have no idea the no. of hours u spend just being a "machine" doing FOLD-INSERT-CUT-TIE.... :P

Then consistency becomes an issue... Especially with TITLES... some card says "Mr & Mrs", some says "Uncle", some just states their name. Randy says nobody compares cards to see the salutation you write, so it's okay... *heheh..*

And when both of u are so tired of being robotic-cardwriting-machines, your human self kicks in and start nitpicking over how long the string should be cut and how your ribbons are nicer than the other person's... Hahahaha...

I was just complaining to our wedding coordinators, Mr & Mrs Chow how my church invite looks different from the original one I designed. The colour was OFF. The printer didn't do a colour matching... Arrggghh... A lil' disappointment there... :(

Anyways, we're so thankful for the both of them... They reminded us of so many nitty gritties that we could have missed out! We almost forgot to register our details with ROM if they've not reminded us... Goodness gracious us...

Cards writing again tonite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(PS: When u receive our wedding cards, know that it's handfolded with love, stamped + licked with delight..! Muhahahaha...!!!)
