Wacky Wig on Jap TV

It didn't take us long to realise that Japan is not tourist-friendly. Everything is written in Jap. You will need some simple chinese knowledge to translate some character & abit of guess work to know what it means.

At the Best Western Shinjuku, we were accustomed to watching the room TV with all Japanese channels. On our 2nd night stay, we watched this very wacky variety show whereby guests were invited onto the show to attempt to make a panel of judges laugh.

One of the guests showed up in a sumo outfit (actually it was just a pair of cloth covering the vital area) and a funny wig that flips up. This part is hard to explain, i tried youtube to look for a clip of that wig but I can't find. Ugh...

Anyhows, here's my attempt at illustrating the WACKY WIG trick.

So what happened was this chubby Jap man in his 40s, ran around the stage pretending to fight another sumo and whenever he got "hit" by the other (invisible) sumo, he would tug the string and the fringe would flip up.

And this was the very exaggerated "i'm in pain" expression he gave when he did the "pull"....

My attempt @ the Wacky Wig trick...

Hope you laughed at this one... Coz we were roaring with laughter watching all the sillyness...!

The Jap are totally uninhibited.... We were just discussing how we would react if we see our dads appearing on national TV doing the sumo's Wacky Wig....

Can't imagine..............!
