More hanging out time with Uncle D. and his family... Of coz, eating is the main activity.. ;)
2nd night, we ate at a Khmer-Chinese restaurant. One of the best in Phnom Penh. By the way, the average Cambodians don't dine here. Only the richer class can afford...
Thmorda Restaurant
Check out the classic Cambodian decor...
Fried Carrot Cake (but without Chai Po) VERY yummy...
Steamed Spicy & Sour Garoupa - Very yumz!
Stir fry sliced beef
Everyone tucking in....
Next morning (Day 3), we woke up in the morning and had breakfast @ a typical Khmer coffeeshop... Many locals head here for a quick meal...
Entree: Battered spring roll...
The filling tastes like what you get in the Vietnamese kind... Minced meat, vermicelli, veg...
A bowl of Sliced beef kway teow soup for each one of us!
Uncle D. and his wifey... Regulars at this food joint... The teochew boss kept wanting to chat with him..
After breakfast, we crossed over to the Russian Market (one of the landmark markets that tourist would find in travel books).... Here's where the locals shop and where you can buy almost anything from wet food, apparels, art pieces to memorabilias...
Aunty Lydia bought some fresh produce to prepapre for lunch.
I got to try this really weird fruit. I have no idea what it's called (obviously the stallowner tried telling me its name in Khmer but I don't get it)...
Here's how it looks on the inside... I have decided to name this fruit Chikau. Coz it tastes more like the fruit Chiku.
After lunch, we booked a Tuktuk for half a day... Our own private Tuk tuk (driver included)! (Photo taken directly in front of Uncle D.'s house)...
Stopover @ some Phnom Penh landmarks...
More landmarks.....
We finished touring the whole city in an hour... *yawns*
Then it was back to Uncle D.'s house to wait for the BC team to arrive... We've already planned to have Korean food when they unpack and settle in!!!
