Randy's HK birthday surprise - Day 1!

After months of contained excitement (just me since Randy only knew about the trip a day before), HongKong here we come!!!!

We woke up really early to get on a budget flight… Guess who we met @ the airport?

… My good friend, Delia! She's off to Vietnam with some friends but we managed to cross paths as our flights are about the same timing.
We reached HK at abt 1pm, checked-in to Metropark Mongkok hotel and headed out for lunch…

First stop: A highly recommended, must-try dim sum place in Mongkok - Tim Ho Wan (Good luck Snack Shop - Shop 8, G/F, 20 Kwong Wa St, Tsui Yuen Mansion). It's a no-frills eatery with a Michelin-star chef hiding in the kitchen and dishing up these morsels of yummies.

The crazy queue outside the eatery
Their reviews that attracted locals and tourists alike
We took a queue number, to realise that there's 50 queue nos before ours!!! *gasp!*
Good thing there were many no-shows… But we still waited more than an hour and got in at 3pm… This better be worth it!
Poor Randy, cramming into a lil' corner… The eatery can only host 30 hungry people at max….

And because we spent so long queuing, I ordered ALL the recommended items on the menu. Which ended up being 8 different baskets of items.

Item 1: Fried Char Siew Pao
Item 2: Vegetable Dumplings
Item 3: Har Gow (Prawn Dumplings), Item 4: Fried Radish Cake
Item 5: Xian Jiao (Fried Savoury Dumpling)
 Item 6: Steamed Spare Ribs
 Item 7: Siew Mai
 Item 8: Prawns cheong fun… Total bill: HK$130 (S$22)
Overall, food was good. Would I queue up another hour again to eat? Nah… Anyways, I think we ordered too much… We were SUPER full.. :P

But yet, there's still space for Xu Liu Shan Mango desserts!!!!

We took our leisurely time to shop and walk before the skies turned dark at 5pm… It's winter and nights come earlier than usual…
X'mas Light up at Langham Place

We were still full from our late lunch so we went for another round of desserts for dinner instead…

Honeymoon Dessert - 4th Floor, Langham Place (Shopping Mall)

Kara's: Silky Toufu in Mango Pomelo Dessert *Very yums!!!*
 Randy's: Mango wrapped in crepe
Mr hungry became hungry by the time we got back to the hotel. So he ordered room service - Steak burger with fries & onion rings...

End of Day 1!!! Enjoyed the cool weather….!
